Why you should switch to Farm Fresh A2 Milk?

Drinking milk has been a cultural practice for a long time. Even today in most households, it is a ritual to start the day with a glass of milk. However, there has been a shift in our milk consumption patterns and the type of milk with many alternative sources of milk available today that do not involve animals like soy, coconut, almond, flax, rice, and hemp.

Even with so many options available, animal milk is considered a complete food because it contains proteins, high levels of calcium, vitamin B12, riboflavin, and phosphorous.

This article provides an overview of what is A2 milk, how it is different from regular milk, its possible health benefits, and why you should make a switch to farm-fresh A2 milk.

What is A2 Milk?

Milk is a good source of protein, containing 8 grams (g) per 8-ounce (oz) glass. However, in India, most consumption is A1 milk, which isn’t too healthy.

There are two major proteins in milk – casein and whey. Casein accounts for around 80% of the protein in milk. There are also various types of casein, one of which is called beta-casein. A1 and A2 are the two variants of beta-casein. Today, the milk available from the local grocery store contains mostly A1 proteins.

When A1 protein is digested, it produces a peptide called beta-casomorphin-7 (BCM-7). Doctors link BCM-7 to stomach discomfort and symptoms which are similar to those experienced by people with lactose intolerance.

Recently, a new type of milk has gained popularity in dairy aisles. This product, called A2 milk is easier to digest and absorb than other types of milk. The A2 beta-casein protein present in A2 Milk breaks down into amino acids for quick digestion, which results in improving our overall health.

But why farm fresh A2 milk After all?

To say the least, A2 is the purest form of milk and has the original protein that is present in cows or buffalos. A2 milk is produced from the cows and buffaloes which are nurtured well with fresh fodder, and clean water, and are kept under vet’s surveillance. No growth hormones or antibiotics are given to increase the output of milk.

Every step is pure and natural, and thus, safe for consumption by everyone in the family.

However, there are still challenges that persist when we talk about the production of quality A2 milk.

Let’s talk about the production of A2 Milk at Farm Crème

3 Reasons to Choose Farm Crème A2 Milk

  • The Animals at the Farm

We believe that happy animals give healthy produce therefore, the cows and buffalo at our farm are not tied and are left free to hover around. They have access to a 24*7 clean water supply and are pampered with showers, the tune of good music, sprinklers, a cooling system, and mud bedding. They are well taken care of by a 24*7 Vet and vaccinated to live a disease-free life.

  • The feed and the fodder

The cows and buffalo at Farm Crème are fed the highest quality of fodder, specially prepared for them at the farm itself. The feed comprises a certain proportion of barley, cotton cake, soya, chana miller, wheat miller, maize, and green fodder, ensuring all the proteins, and vitamins these animals would need.

  • Health and Technology

The entire milking process at the Farm is untouched and automated. Any cow or buffalo showing nervousness or health issues is automatically left out of the milking process by the sensors. Also, between the milking process and the packaging, the fresh milk is passed through a chilling process and pasteurized to ensure the nutrients of the milk are intact.

5 Everyday Uses of Honey You Should Know

Everyday Uses of Honey You Should Know

Honey- Loved by people of all ages for its sweetness and depth of flavors, it contains many of the nutrients our body needs on a regular basis. This bee by-product is loaded with vitamins, minerals, proteins, and other nutrients.

The benefits of honey go beyond its superb taste. It has several health benefits, works as a home remedy, and many more. We will discuss each of these in great detail in this blog today.

Here are 5 everyday  health benefits and uses of honey –

1.  Honey as a healing agent –

Did you know that this delicious by-product is one of the oldest-known medicines?

Let’s see why –

Because of its antibacterial properties, honey can be used as a dressing for wounds. When you apply honey to a wound and cover it with a bandage, you’ll feel relief from pain and a reduction in inflammation. It also combats infection as it seals the wound, prevents excessive scarring, and stimulates the growth of new skin. Honey can also help calm allergic reactions and inflamed insect bites.

2. Honey as an energy booster –

Next time when you are all set to hit the gym or go for a morning walk, take a spoon of honey for some extra energy.

Honey is known for its effectiveness in instantly fueling the body with some extra energy, amping up endurance, and reducing muscle fatigue. This is because its natural fruit sugars, fructose, and glucose prevent fatigue and are quickly absorbed into the bloodstream. Moreover, honey is a great source of carbohydrates which provides all the extra energy and strength to the body.

3. Honey for faster weight loss –

Have you ever heard of this concoction of honey-water-lemon? When coupled with an active lifestyle, this concoction is known to help aid in the faster burning of oil. This works even better when taken on an empty stomach in the morning. Apart from this, you can also replace sugar and other calorie-heavy sweeteners with honey. You may also use honey for dressing up your salads, mix them with your dry fruits, or with a cup of toasted oats, all serving as a light snack and stopping you from binge-eating fried or processed snacks.

4. Honey for boosting immunity & for self-care –

The antioxidants and antibacterial properties in honey help in reinforcing our immune system and fights ailments such as colds and flu.

You might be surprised to know that you can use honey “as is” as a facial mask. Apply honey on your entire face, leaving the eye area, keep it for 15-20 minutes and then wash it with warm water. Also, if you are someone who has dry skin, honey is the best natural moisturizer. You may also use it as lip balms for cracked lips during winters.

5. Honey for fighting insomnia –

Facing difficulties in falling asleep?

Honey is a carbohydrate for fat digestion which stimulates insulin release, and this action fires up the tryptophan (a compound that makes us sleepy). For best results, drink a glass of warm milk with a teaspoon of honey before going to bed every day because the heat from the hot milk amplifies the effect of tryptophan.

The Bottom Line –

There is no doubt that Honey is one of nature’s most exceptional offerings. However, it should still be consumed in a moderate amount because it is a form of sugar after all.

P.S – The darker the honey is, the stronger its healing properties.

Comment down one healing property of honey you’ve experienced in your everyday living.

Bilona Ghee V/S Regular Ghee: Which is the better choice?

Nothing makes an Indian meal more scrumptious than a spoonful of ghee. Ghee has been an integral part of an average Indian kitchen since time immemorial. Today, not just our fathers and grandfathers, but the modern dieticians too laud the many nutritional properties of Bilona ghee.

However, are we making the right choice of ghee?

Let’s find the answer in this blog-

What is Bilona Ghee?

The traditional method of making ghee also known as the Bilona Method is quite popular since ancient times. Although the method is quite slow and manual, it is hailed for its umpteen health benefits, and its purest and most authentic taste.

Let’s decipher how this method works-

It begins with the boiling of desi cow or buffalo milk in order to remove the milk’s rawness and impurities. Thereafter, it is left to cool down until it is warm enough to make a curd out of it.

After it’s warm enough, the milk is poured into an earthen pot and a curd starter is added to convert it into curd overnight. The curd so prepared will be churned clockwise and anti-clockwise repeatedly, with the help of a wooden churner also called the bilona to obtain Makhan. This Makhan is finally heated to obtain bilona ghee. The ghee so obtained is rich in butyric acid, amino acids, and vitamins A, D, K, and E, moreover, it is a lot lighter and healthier.

The other method of making ghee, which we must have seen our mothers following very often is the ghee we obtain from Malai or Cream-

So, what is used in this method is the thick cream that is collected at the top of chilled milk. This Cream or Malai is collected in a good amount and it is then heated until the reddish-brown precipitate separates from the golden ghee.  You can now strain the ghee to separate it from the precipitate and it is all ready for use! This method however is not as effective as the bilona method because it is comparatively faster and sometimes in the process, we may not be aware of the right temperature. Due to this, ghee might lose its authenticity and several of the essential nutrients that give ghee its aroma and health benefits.

But why Bilona Ghee anyway-

  • Easy to Digest– The Ghee made from cream or malai is not as easily digestible as the one made from bilona method.

  • Helps in detoxing– Adding at least a teaspoon of Bilona ghee to your meal every day will help break down and remove toxins like lipid-soluble through the digestive tract.

  • Instant source of energy- It is an excellent source of higher and instant energy as it is easy to digest and readily absorbed by the body. The body feels livelier and more spirited right away because of the speedy conversion of fat into energy.

  • Excellent source of nutrition for the little ones– The presence of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids in bilona ghee helps in boosting memory and also minimizes the risk of neurological disorders. This makes it an essential part of growing children’s diet.

You’ll be surprised to know that Bilona Ghee is the only dairy product that is lactose-free- when it is slowly heated, the lactose and casein (a milk protein) are slowly removed along with milk solids. This makes Bilona ghee a great choice for lactose-intolerant people.

To add a few more benefits of consuming bilona ghee- it helps in weight loss and is a great immunity booster.

After gushing so much about bilona ghee, it’s time for you to assess for yourself the natural flavor that a dollop of it will give you as compared to your normal ghee.

The 5 Most Misunderstood Facts about Ghee

The 5 Most Misunderstood Facts about Consuming Ghee

Who doesn’t like to relish a dollop of ghee on a hot bowl of khichdi or smeared on your aloo paratha?

A close relative of clarified butter, ghee is one of the most important foods to have on a day-to-day basis with surprising healing properties. As per scientific evidence, it is packed with the goodness of vitamin A, D, E, C, K, and omega-3 fatty acids. However, it is still considered to be harmful to health by many.

Let’s burst any misconceptions or age-old common myths we may have about pure A2 ghee.

  • Causes weight gain-

One of the most common myths related to the consumption of pure desi ghee is that it causes weight gain and hence, many of us opt not to eat it. However, the presence of conjugated linoleic acid in ghee actually helps in weight loss, not weight gain. It also strengthens the guts by preventing the formation of plaques. So, it rather helps in staying fit than what is commonly understood.

  • Lactose intolerants cannot consume ghee-

A sweeping misconception among all lactose intolerant people is that consuming desi ghee aggravates intolerance. The truth however is that Milk solids are distant from ghee which is why they reasonably cannot activate any lactose deficiency. On the other hand, for non-lactose intolerants, the benefits of cow ghee with hot milk are remarkable and help in cleansing the system by rinsing off harmful toxins from the body, thereby accelerating your metabolism.

  • Cooking in Ghee is Harmful to Overall Health-

A lesser-known yet interesting fact about ghee is that, unlike other cooking oils like olive which have a low smoking point, ghee has a considerably high smoking point (around 250 degrees Celsius), which is why it doesn’t break down into free radicals and hence is not harmful to our overall health. Moreover, Ghee contains monounsaturated fatty acids that are extremely healthy. It is also said that ghee has properties that can reduce cancer cell growth.

  • Unsuitable for people with heart ailments-

It is often construed that consuming ghee can increase your risk for heart disease and stroke. However, desi ghee is loaded with antioxidants, conjugated linoleic acid, and major fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin A, E, and D, which prevent the emergence of cardiovascular diseases by averting deposition within the arteries.

  • Homemade ghee is pure-

When preparing ghee at home, some crucial aspects of the procedure are often overpassed. Therefore, it is recommended to buy pure A2 Ghee from a certified brand, as they not only consciously follow every step, but also ensure the quality and purity of the product. The most recommended would be the Ghee made from the ancient Bilona method.

We hope this article enlightened you about the umpteen benefits of ghee and dispelled the common misconceptions around ghee consumption. In the upcoming blogs, we will tell you in detail how the Bilona Method increases the benefits of ghee a hundredfold. So, stay tuned!

Ask Me Anything: 5 Answers to Your Questions About A2 Milk

Recently, a new type of cow’s milk has caught the attention of both consumers and scientists. This type is called A2 cow milk. The reason behind this is that A1 and A2 proteins affect the body very differently.

A2 certified milk is easier to absorb and digest than other types of milk, more specifically A1 milk. This blog attempts to answer some of the prominent questions around A2  certified Milk, its possible health benefits, and how it is different from the A1 milk type.

  • What Do A1 and A2 Milk Mean?

Not all milk is equal!

Today it has become even more important to know the distinction when we’re trying all ways and means to include all important nutrients and proteins in our diet. This article highlights an objective distinction between A1 and A2  certified milk. As per studies, Casein protein covers 80% of total protein in milk and the other is beta protein. A1 and A2 are two genetic types of beta-casein milk protein. Hence, basis the beta-casein, milk has 2 variants namely A1 milk and A2 milk.

  • Which animal produces A2 milk?

Cows or Buffaloes that produce both A1 & A2 beta-casein protein are called A1 animals, and animals that only produce A2 beta-casein are called A2 animals. A1 and A2 casein could be found in both desi and hybrid breeds but one can be sure only via the genetic study of a particular animal. You will find many brands claiming in the market to be A2 milk producers, however, we can’t be sure of this as they might not even rear their Cows and Buffaloes. Only a few A2-certified milk brands are present in India which have their farm.

  • Who should drink A2 milk?

If you are wondering why some people are unable to digest milk, this might answer your question?

When A1 protein is broken down, it creates a protein fragment called beta-casomorphin-7 (BCM-7), which is believed to cause dairy digestive discomfort. When A2  certified Milk is broken down, there is no BCM-7 produced. The taste of A2 Cow/ Buffalo Milk is the same as that of the regular milk and contains the same amount of lactose, we all grew up consuming. However, A2 beta-casein milk contains only the A2 protein, which helps minimize stomach irritation in people. So, if you’re lactose intolerant or milk protein sensitive, A2 is your go-to!

  • Why should we drink A2 milk?

To be very specific of the health benefits of A2 certified milk, It is rich in protein, which is an essential building block of muscle tissue, skin, and blood. A2 certified milk contains omega-3 fatty acids, which helps a great deal in lowering our cholesterol levels and therefore, helps keep our blood pressure levels healthy and reduces the risk of heart disease or stroke. Other than that, A2 certified  milk is also a rich source of:

  • How do I test if milk is A1 or A2 certified milk at home?

It is quite difficult to differentiate between A1 or A2  certified milk at home unless you are a REAL connoisseur or experienced in dairy products. The only differentiating factor between the two types of milk is the presence of A2 type beta-casein or amino acid which can be identified via lab tests or highly complicated analytical methods. Hence, to be sure of A2-certified milk you must ensure that the milk you are consuming is A2 certified.

We hope you found the answers to your questions about A2-certified milk. If you like reading this article, don’t forget to leave a comment. Also, we all ears to more questions and your suggestions for our next blog topic. Until then, we wish you a nutritious and healthy week ahead.
